The Maharashtra Cabinet on February 20 cleared a proposal to extend the boundaries of the Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR). With this, Vasai, Panvel, Alibaug, Khalapur, Pen and Palghar would come within the ambit of the MMR. The extension of boundaries will boost development in the area, say officials.

The Union Cabinet has approved the implementation of Phase-II of the Pradhan Mantri Awaas Yojana-Gramin (PMAY-G). Under the scheme, the government plans to construct a total of 1.95 crore houses by 2022. Around 60 lakh homes would be built in rural India under this phase.

Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari has said a part of the Delhi-Meerut Expressway would become operational by mid-April. Upon completion, the expressway will reduce the travel time between two cities to 45 minutes.

Delhiites can now lodge their complaints online about overflowing drains directly to the Yamuna Pollution Monitoring Committee that will take up the matter with the civic agency concerned. The website was launched on February 20.
