Fifteen years after the plan was mooted to turn India’s largest slum into a township, the Dharavi redevelopment project has found a taker. UAE’s Seclink Technology Corporation (STC) has agreed to take up the uphill task while the project would be funded by that country’s Royal family. STC is a Special Purpose Vehicle, which will get Rs 28,500 crore in funds to revamp 600 acres of land.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on February 17 laid the foundation stone of the long-awaited Patna Metro Rail Project. Modi said the Rs 13,000-crore Metro project was being developed in keeping with the future needs of the people.

Two new districts, Narayanpet and Mulugu, were created on February 17 in Telangana, taking the total number of districts in the state to 33. While Narayanpet is created out of the Mahabubnagar district, Mulugu has been carved out of the Jayashankar Bhupalpally district.

A robot will now clean drains in Tamil Nadu’s Tuticorin as the state tries to rid itself of manual scavenging and also stop recurring cases of labourers dying the process. Bandicoot, the robot that has cost the state Rs 18 lakh, started operations of February 17.
